El 12 de julio de 1939 Rafael Alberti regal\u00f3 al poeta chileno Pablo Neruda una caracola firmada de su pu\u00f1o y letra. El ejemplar se conserva a\u00fan en la colecci\u00f3n que atesor\u00f3 el escritor chileno a lo largo de su vida, catalogada en cerca de ocho mil piezas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Alrededor de un millar de caracolas, incluyendo la autografiada por el poeta gaditano, se exponen ahora en Chile bajo el t\u00edtulo Mollusca. Poes\u00eda de las caracolas<\/a> <\/em>con motivo del 70 aniversario de la donaci\u00f3n de su colecci\u00f3n malacol\u00f3gica a la Universidad de Santiago.<\/p>\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n

No hay mucha informaci\u00f3n gr\u00e1fica disponible en internet de la exposici\u00f3n actual, aparte del v\u00eddeo con los discursos institucionales del d\u00eda de la inauguraci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Amor al mar<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Sin embargo, cuando escribo esto a\u00fan se puede visitar en el sitio virtual del Instituto Cervantes una exposici\u00f3n parecida que se hizo en ambos pa\u00edses, Amor al mar. Las caracolas de Neruda <\/em>con motivo del V Congreso Internacional de La Lengua celebrado en Valpara\u00edso (Chile).<\/p>\n\n\n\n

No son fotograf\u00edas de gran resoluci\u00f3n, pero suficientes para comprobar la belleza de la colecci\u00f3n<\/a> de Neruda, tan apasionado por la mar como Rafael Alberti; y no era lo \u00fanico que les uni\u00f3 desde que se conocieron en 1930, hasta el extremo de que en vida fueron m\u00e1s hermanos que amigos, como recuerda a diario la Fundaci\u00f3n Pablo Neruda<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Cada una de las im\u00e1genes est\u00e1 acompa\u00f1ada de un breve texto extraido de las distintas obras que escribi\u00f3 el autor de Canto general<\/em> <\/em>o Residencia en la tierra <\/em>a lo largo de su vida, entrelazando ambas actividades, la escritura y el coleccionismo de restos marinos de seres vivos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tiempos dif\u00edciles en Par\u00eds<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

La caracola albertiana est\u00e1 firmada en Par\u00eds en 1939. Desconozco si hay en la colecci\u00f3n m\u00e1s caracolas firmadas por Rafael, as\u00ed que me aventuro a suponer que ambas son la misma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Aquel 1939 fue el a\u00f1o en el que \u00e9l y Maria Teresa Le\u00f3n tuvieron que salir de Espa\u00f1a ante la inminente derrota del gobierno leg\u00edtimo de la Rep\u00fablica por los golpistas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Llegaron a la capital francesa con lo puesto. Pablo Neruda les brind\u00f3 hospitalidad en la casa en la que se alojaba con su pareja entonces, la pintora Delia del Carril, en el llamado Muelle del reloj, cuenta Alberti en sus memorias.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Pudo ser all\u00ed donde Rafael, sin apenas recursos \u2013 \u00e9l y Mar\u00eda Teresa ser\u00edan contratados en precario como locutores para Radio Par\u00eds por mediaci\u00f3n de Pablo Picasso \u2013, regalara esta caracola a su amigo chileno en se\u00f1al de agradecimiento y de cari\u00f1o.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Neruda estaba en Par\u00eds como c\u00f3nsul especial para la inmigraci\u00f3n nombrado por el presidente Pedro Aguirre Cerda. Su m\u00e1s notable logro fue el flete del vapor Winnipeg<\/em>, que traslad\u00f3 a Chile a m\u00e1s de dos mil refugiados espa\u00f1oles que hab\u00edan huido del pa\u00eds.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Inter\u00e9s art\u00edstico y cient\u00edfico<\/h4>\n\n\n\n

Pero los Alberti no fueron en ese barco. Cuando, por presiones del mariscal P\u00e9tain, embajador franc\u00e9s en Espa\u00f1a, Mar\u00eda Teresa Le\u00f3n y \u00e9l fueron despedidos de Radio Francia, se embarcar\u00edan en otro nav\u00edo rumbo a Buenos Aires, donde comenz\u00f3 su exilio americano.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

La exposici\u00f3n abierta estos d\u00edas coincide con el centenario de la publicaci\u00f3n del primer libro de poemas de Alberti, Marinero en tierra, <\/em>momento que se ha aprovechado para relanzar las actividades de la Fundaci\u00f3n Alberti en El Puerto de Santa Mar\u00eda.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Por otro lado, aparte de su valor art\u00edstico (se han hecho tallas en miniatura en algunos ejemplares), la colecci\u00f3n de Neruda tiene tambi\u00e9n un inter\u00e9s cient\u00edfico que ya subray\u00f3, con motivo de la exposici\u00f3n celebrada en Madrid en 2009 (en Valpara\u00edso al a\u00f1o siguiente), el entonces rector de la Universidad de Chile, V\u00edctor P\u00e9rez Vera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
