Con la sencillez de sus herramientas y materiales primitivos, podr\u00eda decirse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Fielding lo hizo bien y Austen incluso mejor, comparando sus oportunidades con las nuestras. Sus obras maestras tienen indudablemente un raro aire de sencillez.  Y sin embargo, la comparaci\u00f3n entre la literatura y, por poner un ejemplo, el proceso de fabricaci\u00f3n de un coche a motor apenas se sostiene.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<!--more-->\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es dudoso que a lo largo de los siglos, aunque hayamos aprendido mucho sobre la fabricaci\u00f3n de m\u00e1quinas, hayamos aprendido algo sobre la creaci\u00f3n de literatura.  No hemos llegado a escribir mejor; todo lo que podemos hacer es seguir avanzando, ahora un poco en esta direcci\u00f3n, ahora en esa, pero con una tendencia circular si se observa todo el trayecto desde un punto lo suficientemente elevado.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">No es necesario decir que no reclamamos estar, ni siquiera moment\u00e1neamente, en esa posici\u00f3n privilegiada.  Sobre el terreno, entre la multitud, medio ciegos por el polvo, miramos hacia atr\u00e1s con envidia a aquellos felices guerreros, cuya batalla est\u00e1 ganada y cuyos logros lucen un aire tan sereno de realizaci\u00f3n que apenas podemos abstenernos de murmurar que la pelea no fue tan fiera para ellos como lo es para nosotros.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Es tarea del historiador de la literatura decidir; decir si ahora estamos en los comienzos, al final o en medio de un gran periodo de literatura de ficci\u00f3n, porque aqu\u00ed sobre el terreno apenas es posible verlo.
